In the excitement of going to purchase my KitchenAid Standing Mixer, I forgot to take a picture of Sunday’s outfit. However, it’s a Repeat Offender from Day 26, but with my navy satchel. I got so excited when perusing the Bed Bath and Beyond website to see they had one Pistachio colored 5qt mixer in stock, that I threw on whatever I pulled out of the closet and went to go get it. All The Cupcakes are about to happen. On Monday I went to Meaty Monday at HIll Country BBQ in the Penn Quarter with a group of friends. Every Monday they offer all you can eat meat and sides for $22, so we try to go once a month. I love my Prabal Gurung for Target skirt, but holy crap is it not a good idea for an all you can eat event.
Days 45 and 46 I was trying to wear items that were less loved in the previous 6 weeks, so I worked my fuchsia pants and ruffle tank into my outfits. Day 47, I wanted to wear the earrings I ordered from Stella & Dot last month, and had been lusting after for the past year, so I planned an all black ensemble to really make them pop! I really love those freaking neon pink flats, and I am still so pleased with the purchase, so I’m trying to work them into every outfit I can right now.
In the end, I decided not to replace the green maxi dress with the aqua shirt, and instead bought a replacement dress on Piperlime’s 70% off sale. I really love how I feel in maxi dresses, pretty but not revealing, so I wanted to have a second one for the rest of summer and the beginning of fall, one that is work appropriate. It doesn’t have “built-in boobs” so it should fit, and it’s definitely a better quality than Target. It is, however, Final Sale, meaning I will have to get it tailored if too large, versus exchanging for a smaller size. Gap (a Piperlime sister company) was having an ADDITIONAL 50% off sale items promotion, so I snagged a light-colored chambray shirt (a Fall Wish List item) for the final price of $20, and was able to combine the shipping with the Piperlime order to get free shipping! It’s solid, not cute polka dots, so it will go with more items in my wardrobe, such as my mint polka dot jeans, and other patterned skirts and pants. Furthermore, I had my order shipped to my parents house in Delaware since I will be visiting this coming week, saving another $4 in sales tax. I will also be able to return it in-store easily at my parents house. I would like to say it stops there, but it doesn’t. LOFT, which is my favorite store for work clothes, was having one of their 40% Off Everything That Isn’t Nailed Down sales, so I took my Fall wish list in and picked up a few items. While I was originally going to do all my shopping at the Rehobeth Outlet, 40% off ended up being more economical than “a few dollars cheaper at the outlet and no sales tax.” I knocked winter work pants (I got 2 pairs in black and 1 pair in gray because I had to toss all of my heavier pants during my move), black cardigan, and gray pencil skirt off the list. These are a lot of purchases for someone doing a challenge that’s about dressing with less, but with less fabric in my pants, the more my legs are going to freeze in the DC winter. All I really have left is a pair of super skinny jeans, a blazer, and another cardigan or two for pops of color. And some tights. I may just make due with what I have with the tights until December. I’m making a trip to visit my friend Jess in NYSizzle the first weekend in December and I told her that the only necessary stop is Joe Fresh for tights. They make the world’s most comfortable tights for $6/pop.
Mani of the Week
ohhhhhh emmmmmm geeeeeeee, I just love this polish so much. I purchased it last week, so it came into my possession after I started my little challenge, and it’s going to be so difficult not to keep defaulting to this while I’m working my way through my untried. The formula’s perfect, and it’s totally office appropriate. But go out to play in the sun and BAM, this beauty happens. This polish was $15, but I totally think it’s worth every penny I spent. I don’t often feel that way about nail polish, but this is definitely going into my Top 20 polishes.
